Entrepreneurship: A Real Option for Young People
…we speak with architects Saudy Miranda, Ariel Gualtruzzi, and Real Estate Agent César R. López who represent the alliance between their firms SMAG Architects and Discovery Properties to learn about their experience as young entrepreneurs in Puerto Vallarta.
[…]
Do you think entrepreneurship is a luxury or a necessity?
Saudy Miranda: In our professions in particular, we face the dilemma that, if we want to progress, we must work as independent professionals and entrepreneurs. We understand that this is challenging for young professionals, as many times you find yourself without the tools or experience to know what to do and fear of failure overwhelms you.
In my case, I’ve entrepreneurs before and I must admit that I cried a lot, now I feel much more mature for this moment of venturing out again because I have a clear picture of the legal processes, accounting, customer service, and a network of contacts through people which allows us today to have a constant flow of work.[…]
Faced with the real estate boom, how do you seek to stand out as entrepreneurs?
Ariel Gualtruzzi: Today it is a very competitive market, this is true, and there are large players that dominate construction and apartment sales, especially.
The above leads to mass housing production by repeating models with certain standardization.
We, because we are passionate about design, always seek to carry out custom projects tailored to the client’s lifestyle—and economic possibilities—always trying to optimize resources in a creative way.
Given what was mentioned before about the amount of construction for sale, many companies have focused on this because of the opportunity to improve their income, and so; those who seek to build their dream home or remodel find long waiting lists or little attention, which results in not having the guidance of a professional and the problems this sometimes brings.
Another aspect is that we try to provide design and architectural warmth; truth is, money is not our main incentive, but rather being able to do what we are passionate about and see it materialize.
What distinguishes you to your clients?
César López: Our service is completely personalized. We love finding the ideal property for our clients’ lifestyle. We are a bilingual agency, members of AMPI (Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals), with access to the inventory of properties for sale in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
Saudy Miranda: All our clients eventually become our friends, we have a very close relationship with clients and that is something they have recognized. Making them feel that they are designing their house with our help, we help them land the idea and spend the necessary time on details, whether in explanations or the search for materials.
What role do alliances play in entrepreneurship for you?
César López: The idea of creating this alliance arose to offer a more comprehensive complete service. We found ourselves frequently contacting each other to request quotes or to look for investment options, so we decided to put our office together to have more complete information and be able to help our clients achieve their objectives.[…]
